INTRODUCTION: The Bachelor of
Christian Education course will build upon a strong foundation in Christian Education, and
an in depth study of the history and virtuosity of the Christian life and its expressions.
God is the Creator of all life and beauty, and his creation of the universe is the
greatest artwork of all time. Along with the strong Christian educational foundation, you
will learn the expressions of Christianity through all manner of Christian art, music,
drama, writing, traditions, tokens, types, shadows, preaching, teaching and religious
indoctrination.BCE.l INTRODUCTION TO BIBLE DOCTRINE

This introduction to Bible doctrine is designed to prepare the student for Systematic
Doctrinal Studies. Students learn that doctrine is a synthetic, bringing together the
references from the whole Bible, bearing upon a major proposition. Some of the major
doctrines of the Bible are included in this study.
BCE.2 EVANGELISM - Credit Units = 3
Students will learn that souls must be brought to Christ before they are converts, ready
to disciple. This is a subject too often neglected in the Church, and yet its importance
is paramount. Students will be encouraged to put soulwinning compassion into action, as an
individual and as part of the Church, in order to align with the Great Commission of
Christ.
BCE.3 HISTORY OF PENTECOSTAL REVIVAL
Credit Units = 3
This study takes the student back to the `roots' of the Pentecostal Experience - the Book
of Acts, chapter two, verse four. The student will receive glimpses of Pentecost through
the centuries, and through testimonies of people of the early 20th Century outpouring of
the Holy Spirit. Heavy library research is involved, and the student must master the
material sufficiently to teach the material.
BCE.4 SPIRIT WROUGHT ECSTATIC EXPERIENCE
Credit Units = 3
This study will provide insight and instruct the student in maintaining a fresh spiritual
experience with God. This study penetrates deeply into the experience of Spiritual
Ecstasy, which is literally the earnest, the foretaste, of glorious worlds to come.
Students will be practically and Scripturally strengthened, and made to rejoice in their
Pentecostal experience. God, by his Word and by the Holy Spirit, has given spiritual drink
to the believer in Christ - equal to his faith, understanding and submission. Students are
encouraged to embrace this vitality in their faith.
BCE.5 BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION (Hermeneutics)
Credit Units = 3
In this study of Hermeneutics students are taught to search true meanings for themselves,
to study methodically and to follow basic guidelines, while depending on the guidance of
the Holy Spirit, in order to minister with confidence. Students learn there is no amount
of reading, studying or praying that will suffice, if the Bible is erroneously
interpreted.
BCE.6 MINISTRIES OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Credit Units = 3
This study introduces the student to methods, plans, committees, leaders, and curriculum
helpful in integrating Christian Education into the many departments of the Church. It
also shows the student how to pinpoint the areas where Christian education is needed, and
can be utilized. Provides excellent exercise in the performance of certain administrative
duties.
BCE.7 CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP - Credit Units = 4
This study is designed to develop Christian leadership abilities in the Bible student, and
to assist the student in recognizing and encouraging leadership abilities in others. This
subject illustrates the indispensable need for good Christian leaders, and will introduce
basic biblical guidelines for achieving this goal through scriptural motivational skills
and practical Christian training. Christian leadership is not always easy; this study can
make it easier and more worthwhile.
BCE.8 CHRISTIAN TEACHING - Credit Units = 4
This study assists in developing the student as teacher of the commandments, commissions,
and mandates of the Holy Bible. The material shows how to scripturally communicate and
motivate students to learn; the importance of thorough scriptural planning; knowledge of
the biblical material and age group of the Christian students; holy inspiration. This
subject is loaded with religious information. Teach Christianity well, and those you teach
will be your crown of success.
BCE.9 CHRISTIAN SKILLS FOR TEACHING DISABLED
Credit Units = 3
This study introduces education for individuals, members and constituents at all levels of
need - primarily the physically and mentally disabled. It focuses on two areas in
particular; showing the student the need for this type of teaching ministry and helping
the student to understand the basic elements involved in this type of teaching ministry.
BCE.l0 CHRISTIAN EDUCATIONAL SUPERINTENDENT
Credit Units = 4
This study deals with the Sunday school and the Sunday School Superintendent. This subject
discusses how to scripturally set up and manage a successful Sunday school.
BCE.l 1 THE CHURCH SECRETARY - Credit Units = 3
This subject deals with the church secretary, and his/her scriptural qualifications and
duties to religious ministry.
BCE.l2 RELIGIOUS USE OF COMPUTERS - Credit Units = 3
This study is intended to acquaint the student with scriptural computer methods and
ethics: As they relate to our ministry to others and the spreading of our faith, in any
area of the world by any and all scriptural and legitimate means; the employment or
association of pastors, missionaries and evangelists; the publication and distribution of
scriptural literature ; the broadcasting of religious messages on the airwaves, including
the Internet.
BCE.l3 RELIGIOUS RECORD KEEPING - Credit Units = 3
As one of the least inspiring subjects of this course, this study is considered by SBTS to
be one of the most important. Its focus is properly and scripturally kept religious
records.
BCE.l4 RELIGIOUS RESEARCH AND STUDY LIBRARY
Credit Units = 3
This study stresses the scriptural importance and organization of a good religious library
for all age groups, to properly research and study the Scripture.
BCE.l5 STRENGTHENING THE FAMILY AND HOME
Credit Units = 3
This study teaches that the family is the bedrock of society. Destroy the family and you
destroy homes, communities, nations, and humanity's individual sense of worth. In its lace
is a world filled with a plethora of `deformed' offspring. This deformity is both
psychologically and spiritual. Students will learn where and how the influx of the
philosophy of secular Humanism has entered powerful arenas, and of the political power
they wield. This study emphatically reveals the family as God's own plan for man, in the
earth. Further, it offers an incentive for students to launch a spiritual battle against
the enemies of God and human beings everywhere, by knowing the scriptural foundations as
they relate to the family.
BCE.l6 THE CHRISTIAN HOME - Credit Units = 3
This study reviews various `family systems' and suggests a home-life based on Christian
principles. Further, it forcefully presents them for consideration by the student. The
importance of considering the temperament of each individual in the home is clearly
defined. This consideration is crucial to the development of a cohesiveness, or of a
binding of families together, as each one learns to maintain a daily `walk' with God. A
good lesson in uniting the spiritual with the practical.
BCE.l7 PASTORAL COUNSELING - Credit Units = 3
In this course the student will gain an insight into the rich theological framework that
supports and directs a biblical approach to counseling. Connecting biblical doctrine with
practical living.
BCE.l8 THESIS OR DISSERTATION - Credit Units = 4
The Thesis or Dissertation is the most important assignment of this Course. It must
contain six thousand words or more, with subject selected by SBTS on request, or by the
student, on approval by SBTS, and must be relative to the general Bachelor of Christian
Education course of study. Stringent grading standards are applied to content, form,
clarity, thoroughness in communicating propositions, and in adhering to the SBTS Thesis
Form for typing and layout. Thesis/Dissertation must be separately bound from the Course
Notebook.
